WHAT ARE PDO / COG THREADS?

Body PDO Threads are used to tighten sagging skin on the stomach, buttocks, back, inner thighs and upper arms. They can also be used to treat cellulite and stretch marks.

PDO threads are lifting sutures made from uniform synthetic fibres, which gradually dissolve under the skin. The insertion of PDO threads stimulates fibroblasts to produce new elastin and collagen fibres, boosting the natural hyaluronic acid synthesis.

As a result, the effects become visible gradually, and are typically long-lasting. This treatment phenomenally firms the skin, and is exceptionally helpful in decreasing the appearance of saggy skin, for example after a sudden weight loss.

How does it work?

Thread insertion is performed using a very thin cannula. The application of a local anaesthetic makes the PDO threading process painless. You may experience a slight pricking sensation. The treatment usually takes about 30 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

STEP 1. CONSULTATION

All of our treatments begin with a private consultation that includes a full assessment by our expert practitioner. The desired outcome and suitability of the treatment on the patient will be discussed, and then a tailored treatment plan is devised together.

STEP 2. TREATMENT

The area to be treated is numbed, then the treatment is administered following this. The threads are inserted into the skin using a cannula, then pulled to create a lifting effect.

STEP 3. AFTERCARE

PDO / COG THREADS

There are different types of materials used with different threads.

PDO threads produce a difference kind of collagen and give more plum[int and a rejuvenation effect and tend to provide and stronger lift.

Silhouette Soft threads (PLLA threads) tend to produce a more subtle lifting result but create type 1 collagen which gives a better long term ageing prevention benefit and produce less plumping than PDO threads.

We are well trained in both types of threads and during your consultation we will be a belt to provide advice on which treatment is most suitable for you, or if another treatment is better suited.

If you require plumping / volumisation as well as a subtle lift, then PDO is the best option. If you do not require additional volume but require a reasonable lift, then Silhouette Soft is the best option. If you are unsure which type of thread lift is best, then we will be able to advise which is best for you at your consultation.

If you have a lot of facial volume or have had multiple PDO lifts in the past then Silhouette soft are probably better. If you have a lot of sagging and would benefit from a stronger lift and some plumping / volumisation then PDO threads are recommended.

A thread lift consultation is carried out prior to any treatment to determine the correct thread lift treatment for you.

Depending on which thread lift option you have, and the area of the face or body treated, will depend o the amount of recovery time required.

The neck and arms generally require minimal downtime and most patients only have mild bruising several days after.

If facial areas are treated, swelling in the localised area is common, as is puckering of the skin and bruising. Soreness can also be felt for up to 10-14 days post procedure.
